A Fairy Good Life

The second project from our August Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Mariusz Gierszewski, is this very soft and magical layout.  Mariusz has beautifully used the frame of the paper as the base for this lovely design.  The chipboard, flowers and fussy cutting create a very eye-pleasing design for this sweet infant photo.

Here is what Maruisz had to say about this layout:

Another work in which I could bring you closer shabby style. I prepared at the begining chipboards by embossing powder and cut many emablishments from other papers. After that I start to build composition of fabric flowers in the corner and more or less oposite/middle side. On the top flowers I add the gesso. On the end I add few printed chipboard pieces from collection the all corners, and to decorate layout. Balance and harmony formed an integral whole.

October Inspiration with Cathi

This month I wanted to do some more autumn themed layouts, because, well, I am in love with the autumn season, the colors, the leaves, everything... And of course I love the Blue Fern Studios Autumn Anthology and knew it needed to be used for this season!!

My first layout features my eldest Aine a few years back with an autumnal backdrop. Her red hair is always great for autumn layouts too!! For the base of the layout I used the gorgeous Penmanship paper. I just love the illustrations, a mixture of gorgeous fall flowers and mushrooms and fountain pens and vintage illustrations!  I always find the Calling Cards cutouts perfect for layering under my photos and the back side of the calling cards was just as gorgeous as the cut out images.

Here you can see the I Think You're Wonderful and Circle Flourish- Small chipboards embossed in the Tangerine Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

I chose some beautiful peach colored Attic Charm Daisies and Courtship Blooms in dark brown to add to my layout. In the background you can see the splashes of ink and stamping I added to the layout using the Halftone stamp set, the Making Plans Stamp and the Essential Textures stamp set. I love the extra depth and texture stamping can give.

In my final photo here you can see the Turkish Bits chipboard I tucked in under the photo cluster. I used the gorgeous Amethyst Imagine Ink Embossing Powder to add a gorgeous color to it.

I went for a mix of modern and vintage for this layout. I had this great photo of my girls and some friends from years back and there are some adorable smiles in this photo, so of course it had to have the Million Dollar Smile as it title!  The paper I used here for the base is the flip side of the same paper above, Penmanship. I loved both sides so had to use both my papers this time!!

Here you can see I used the Million Dollar Smile for the title of my layout, embossing it and the Captured arrow chipboard from the Picture Perfect set in the beautiful Sea Mist Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

Here you can see the Calling Cards cutouts I layered under the photo, as well as the splashing and stamping I did in the background using the Forever stamp set.  I cut a piece down from the smaller Film Strip chipboard set and embossed it in Melon Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

In my final photo for this layout you can see the big Film Strip accent I added again in the Melon Imagine Ink Embossing Powder, along with the beautiful orange Tranquil Bloom and aqua colored Spring Lily.

For my final layout I used the beautiful Timeless collection. The base paper is the beautiful Papillon paper. My eldest as you might have guessed from past months, loves to dance, so  it won't surprise you to see another photo of her and her friends in swan gear this time! Such a lovely photo captured, I just had to scrap it, my girl is the second from the right lol.

For the title of my page I used the Dreams Come True chipboard.  The photo is clustered yet again on the top of the always perfect Calling Cards cutouts used for layering behind the photo. Here you can see a good view of the mixed media background I did using mist splatters, watercolors, molding paste and masking and lots of stamps including the Making Plans, Forever and Essential Textures stamps.

The flowers I included in the layout are the Attic Charm Daisies, Courtship Blooms and Harvest Lilies, so beautiful!

In this photo you can see the Tattered Diamond Bits and Royal Monarch chipboard. The diamonds have been embossed in the Oatmeal Imagine Ink Embossing Powder while the butterfly has been embossed with the Cotton Candy Imagine Ink Embossing Powder and the edges have been additionally embossed in 14 Karat Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

February Projects by Nicole Doiron

Already a month has passed by since my first DT reveal for Blue Fern Studios!
I was waiting with much anticipation to share with you some more creations
using these gorgeous papers and intricate chipboard pieces!

My first layout features the whimsical and oh so pretty Serendipity Collection!

I used a lot of chipboard on my page mixing some brand new pieces with a few classic ones.  In the close-up below you see some Leafy Page Accent that I cut into 2 pieces, using one half to frame the Serendipity calling card and the other is peaking out from under the photo.

Blue Fern Studios has a lot of chipboard sets that offer not just one, but numerous pieces in a set so you get much more for your money.  The Leafy Page Accents and the Ironwork Accents both seen above are just two of the many examples. You get up to 8-9 pieces in each set!

I never tire of using butterflies on my layouts (I am shabby chic after all!) and this one is called the Brigitte Butterfly.  I covered it with  Imagine Ink Petal embossing powder.  I did the same on the Floral Lattice Bits used around my flower clusters.

Here you see 2 newer pieces that have been designed to complement the Serendipity papers, the large and majestic Swan Gate that I treated with Fuchsia embossing powder and the word 'contemplation'.  The word as well as the Leafy Page Accent were simply painted white with a faint touch of pink.

Blue Fern Studios Supplies
Paper: Serendipity (Merriment, Calling Cards)
Chipboard: Swan Gate, Serendipity Words 1, Brigitte Butterfly Set,
Ironwork Accents, Leafy Page Accents, Floral Lattice Bits
Imagine Ink Embossing Powder: Fuchsia, Petal

On my next project, I dug into some of my Blue Fern Studios papers and rediscovered this beautiful dark design from the Sanctuary collection which turned out perfect for this sweet picture mixed in with a little bit of Love Story to complete the title.

I layered some of the Tattered Diamond Bits, covered with Oatmeal embossing powder, and the gorgeous must-have Circle Flourish which I heat embossed with Garnet, then sprinkled with a little Phoenix glitter and dabbed with a little pearly shimmer paint.

A close-up from the other side...

You see below a little snippet of my background stamped with the brick design from the Essential Textures Stamps set and some Cotton Candy embossing powder.

This incredible photo was given to me by a friend a couple years back!
I have a whole collection and I absolutely love it!

Blue Fern Studios Supplies
Paper: Sanctuary (Bountiful, Calling Cards); Love Story (Calling Cards)
Chipboard: Circle Flourish - Small, Tattered Diamond Bits
Imagine Ink Embossing Powder: Garnet, Oatmeal
Imagine Ink Glitter: Phoenix
Stamp: Essential Textures set

And last, but certainly not least, let's take a look at my take on the February BFS sketch!

Here is the sketch, very romantic and perfect for the Blush Collection!

I did some stamping on my background with the Essential Textures set and used this sweet title.

On all my chipboard pieces, I put white gesso, then added some distress stain and added some Imagine Ink glitter, Caribbean.  I then dabbed on some more white gesso to soften them up.

There are so many gorgeous images on the Blush collection papers so I fussy cut a few of them, including those cute little butterflies from the title strips, and popped them up with foam squares to add dimension to my page.  I absolutely adore the Bits of Honey!

I have scrapbooked this picture of my sweetheart and I several times before, but I had another copy and I thought it matched perfectly with these romantic papers!

I hope that looking at my creations this month has inspired you to create!

Ombre Dreams by Kim Price

Hello everyone! I'm so happy to be back sharing a few of my latest creations for Blue Fern Studios after my short break.

Today I want to share a few projects I have created using the Ombre Dreams collection along with some amazing chipboard shapes and sentiments.

I just love the combination of blue and yellow and for my first project today I've used these colors together for a soft romantic look. I've used a much treasured photograph of my youngest daughter when she was a little girl along with the "adore" sentiment from the Adore, Love, Cherish pack as my title. To decorate this piece I have simply applied a coat of gesso prior to applying a watercolor wash, then simply outlined each letter using a fine permanent marker to make it stand out from the rest of the layout.

I've layered together Jasmine Collage, a stem from the Pretty Weeds pack and Notebook Edges - all decorated with watercolors for that soft, subtle finish.

Combine these with Ginger's Dream and Susan's Dream patterned papers from the Ombre Dreams collection and the result is a lovely romantic layout.

Products used: Blue Fern Studios paper collection: Ombre Dreams Ginger's Dream and Susan's Dream patterned papers
Blue Fern Studios chipboard: Adore, Love, Cherish pack, Jasmine Collage, Pretty Weeds and Notebook Edges.

For my second project today I chosen to go with the pink shades again from Ombre Dreams.

I've used Ombre Dreams Shannon's Dream patterned paper as the base to my layout and featuring the small Circle Flourish chipboard. I've colored this piece using watercolors to coordinate with the color scheme in my project, adding lots of paper flowers to really set that frame off.

The final touch to this project is my title Angel Eyes found in the Spiritually Speaking pack.

Here's a closer look at the watercolor effect on my chipboard title I've been loving to use so much lately.

...and a closer look at the flourish detail as well.

Thanks for calling in to the blog today, I hope you find some inspiration in my August projects!

Layouts Featuring Paisely & Vine By Debbie

Hi everyone, Debbie here with you today to share some layouts I created using the Paisley & Vine Collection which was introduced a few weeks ago.  I love the warm tones of the papers.

On  my first layout I used Bohemian, Nature, Vineland and Playing Card papers and added some masking, misting, paints and microbeads.

The Circle Flourish Chipboard surrounds my photo.  I first applied some gesso to the chipboard and then added some misting, water colors, gelatos and microbreads.

I painted a piece of the Quartre Foil chipboard with some yellow and blue paints and added more microbeads and tucked the chipboard behind the flowers.

Here I've used a piece from the Layering Stems chipboard, which I painted with watercolors and gelatos and added more of the blue microbeads.

My next layout was based on the July sketch.
I used the Nature, Pathway, Splendor, Passion and Playing Card papers along with some masking and inking.

I incorporated 2 chipboard pieces as a base for my picture, Frills Panel and Vintage Labels.  Both pieces were embossed using a number of products to achieve the aged look.

Tuked beneath the flowers is a Leafy Page Accent and Mini Rings chipboard.  Both of which I embossed and inked.

More pieces of the Mini Ring Things chipboard with some gold microbeads.

My final layout you saw earlier in the month on the blog, again using papers from the Paisley and Vine Collection.
I used the Whimsy paper as my background, which I lightly
applied light pink ink around the outside of the paper.  I also used Playing Card and Passion papers from the collection.

I inked the chipboard Perfect with some dark red ink and placed pieces of the Framington Medley chipboard, which I embossed with white powder and added some blue ink around my picture.

A gorgeous Royal Monarch chipboard butterfly embossed white and placed within a flower cluster is the perfect touch!

I hope you enjoy my layouts!

Thanks for stopping by!

Three off-the-page projects by Marie-Josée

Hello all,

Today, I will show you three off-the-page projects created with the beautiful Blue Fern Studios products!

Pop-up box with the Sanctuary collection

This is supposed to be a card, but to me, it looks more like an off-the-page project, since there is no place to write text. However, it can make a great wedding or anniversary souvenir, combined with a card. Thus the "Your Hearts Together" sentiment on the front panel.

For those of you who are interested to know how to create this project, here's a great tutorial I found on YouTube.

I used various papers from the Sanctuary collection to create this card: Birdsong Melody, Meadows of Time and Garden Plaza.

I cut the birds and flowers out of two different papers: The brown birds were cut out of the Birdsong Melody paper, whereas the blue bird and the flowers were cut out of the Meadows of Time paper.

On the front panel, I used a piece of the Bowed Trinkets to frame my sentiment.

I used the Mini Flourishes on the back panel to add texture and interest behind the paper flowers.

I also cut two pieces of the Lattice Fence to use on the side of my pop-up box.

Here's another view of the whole card.

Canvas with the Montage collection

Here's a small canvas (6" x 8") that I created with the Montage collection.

First, I altered my canvas with gesso, various mists and stamps.

Then, I also altered the small Circle Flourish frame with gesso and mists. I also added pearls on the circles of the frame.

Then I cut a piece of the Calling Cards paper from the Montage collection to use as a background.

I also used one of the calling card in the center of my frame.

Wall decor with various Blue Fern Studios collection

To create this piece, I used paper scraps from various Blue Fern Studios collections: Ombre Dreams, Montage, Sanctuary, and Love Story.

First, I used foam dots to assemble all the pieces of paper, to give dimension to my project. Then, using my finger, I applied gesso to the edges of the papers. Then, I sprayed various colors on the whole project: brown, white, and black.

I used the Blooming Foliage chipboard, combined with flowers. I altered it with gesso and green mists.

Then, I used the Dream Big chipboard, which I altered with black gesso.
