Sharon's August Layouts!

Hi everyone!  Welcome August!

Today is the day I have been looking forward to all month.  It's the time I get to share 3 new layouts with all of you!  My pages for the month of August all have a family theme  - I want to honor and preserve my family photos and share with you how wonderful (and easy!) it is to make layouts that mean something to you!

So without further ado, here they are:

Layout #1:  Life is Full of Surprises

I used a photo that I took of my daughter, Anne, in 2012.  She loves to ride her bike,  and on this particular afternoon, she got on her bike while she was still in her dress that the wore to church.  I have hidden journaling about this tucked under the photo.

For this layout, I used the gorgeous "Tattered Walls" collection.  I really love all of the beautiful paper in this collection.  This particular paper is entitled "The Sun Room."

Here is a close up:

As you can see, I stamped and embossed directly on the edges of my page to bring your eye directly to the photo.  I also embossed my chipboard with Buttercup embossing powder.  You have to try Blue Fern Studios' embossing powder - it is a dream to use!!!

Here is another view:

Layout #2:  Fabulous

Here, I used a photo of my niece, Sarah, age 3, and my daughter Katie, age 8, taken for Mother's Day in 1997.

This time, I used the beautiful and versatile "In the Mood" collection.  I love how the pinks and reds of the paper go perfectly with the pinks of Sarah's and Katie's dresses.

To give you a better look, here is a close up:

And a different angel:

Seedlings: Flaming
Glitter: Gilded Rose, Soot
Lace: Lace 1, Lace 10, Lace 12

Layout #3:  Our Family

This layout features the very gorgeous Tattered Walls collection.  The paper is entitled "The Carport."  (I have said this before, but I really love how each of these papers are named after a room!)

For this layout, I featured photos of our immediate family that were taken for our Christmas photo this past year.  I especially loved using the small chipboard frames embossed in gold and the gold Lace 9C to emphasize and clearly define them.

Here are some close ups:

I stamped and embossed the edges of my paper with the "Night Sky" embossing powder.   I also embossed the chipboard "solar dangles" with Night Sky EP.  This EP is spectacular and goes perfectly with this patterned paper.

Garden Life Layouts by Kris Berc

Hi, Blue Fern Studios fans! It's Kris here to share a few new layouts with you.  All three feature the new paper collection called Garden Life.

Cute Stuff

My first layout features the Garden Life - Wallflowers paper. I treated it with gesso, drops of ink, modeling paste through a stencil, the Serendipity Medley stamp, and a stamp from the Forever stamp set.

I clustered some Garden Florals and Garden Blooms with a few other items from my stash.

I framed the photo with a chipboard piece from the Graduated Circles set embossed with 14 karat embossing powder.  The Garden Lattice Bits and the "Cute Stuff" title from the Good Vibes set were first embossed with Sunlight Rose embossing powder and then embossed a second time with Rusty Rose embossing powder.

My flower cluster includes Garden Blooms, Garden Florals, and Spring Florals.  I have also used 3 pieces from the Garden Life Printed Chipboard set.

The Mémoires Collection by Karine

Hi,

It's my turn, today, to share with you my October layouts created with the brand new Mémoires collection. The papers are just gorgeous!

The end of a Perfect Day

For this layout, I used the Tale of Treasures paper as my background. After I primed it with clear gesso, I used a stencil with modeling paste. I added a bit of blue mist with a brush.

To add more interest to the background, I used the Grungy Grid stamp with black ink. I also added another stamp with text.

Behind my photo cluster, I used the Circle Groupe chipboards, which I embossed with Sand & Sea Imagine Ink embossing powder. It matches the background beautifully.

Under my picture, I used the Calling Cards paper to mat.

I used the Photographic Record paper to die cut a doily to add to both my clusters. I also added some flowers and wire thread to embellish.

My title piece, The End of a Perfect Day, is also embossed with Sand & Sea Imagine Ink embossing powder.

Life is Full of Surprises

When I saw this beautiful paper, called Chronicles, in the collection, I immediately thought of this picture of my daughter. I primed it with clear gesso and, as usual, used some modeling paste through a stencil to add texture.

I also added two mists colors to the background: one in a red-burgundy shade that matches the background and another in a golden yellow tone. I used both the Grungy Grid and the Forever stamps to add interest to my background.

To mat my picture, I used a piece of the Grand Sequel paper and a card from the Calling Cards paper. I placed that over the largest Frilly Hearts chipboard which I embossed with Oatmeal Imagine Ink embossing powder. I just love how it mat my picture with such feminine details.

To embellish, I used some Attic Charm Daisies (you can see it better in the next picture), some Seaside Lilies and some Harvest Lilies. Did I mentioned how I love Blue Fern Studios flowers?

In my flower cluster, I used two keys from the Vintage Keys set. I used again the Oatmeal Imagine Ink embossing powder.

My title piece, the Life is Full of Surprises chipboard, is embossed with Ginger Imagine Ink embossing powder.

Complices

For my last layout, I started with the Nature's Novel paper. I love the earth tones of this one.

I used my new favorite stamp: the Crackle Texture stamp, here and there, on the background. A few shades of ink (aqua, brown and yellow) here and there, and background was done.

I had this idea of a torn band of paper going diagonally on my layout. I used the Photographic Record paper to do so. I tucked some pieces of the Turkish Bits chipboards set behind the paper, to add interest. I embossed the chipboards with Mushroom Imagine Ink embossing powder and while it was still hot, I sprinkled some Sand & Sea Imagine Ink embossing powder over it. I believe this powder will quickly become my favorite!

For my main embellishment cluster, I chose the Seaside Flourish chipboard, which I cut apart to keep just the flourish and the flowers. You can see, in the picture above, How I cut the anchor and the two stars and keeps everything else.

I used brown Ink to color this chipboard and then, I dry brushed some white gesso to make it stand out a bit more.

In this cluster, I used a lot of Blue Fern Studios flowers: little Courtship Blooms, some Spring Lilies and, of course, the beautiful Mémoires Blooms.

I used those flowers again in the two other clusters I made.

I mated my picture with the Calling Cards paper. My title piece comes from the Amis, Ensemble, Complices set. I treated it with the same steps as I did with the other chipboards on this layout.

I hope my layouts inspires you to dig in this BEAUTIFUL new collection.

Have a great day,
Karine

Sandi's June Inspiration and Process Video

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing my June creations which feature the new Attic Charm collection as well as lots of other great Blue Fern Studios products!

I am totally in love with the entire Attic Charm collection! There are so many ways that it can be utilized but I went soft and demure on both my projects.

First up is this sweet layout with a photo of my niece and grandniece. Of course, little Lexi is one of our newest family "princesses," so the chipboard title seemed perfect.

I did a little background work with super heavy gesso and a stencil and then pulled out my Imagine Ink Leaf mist to add some depth. I've also used the BFS Wallflower stamp for dimension.

My photo was framed with the Rose Shield chipboard which was gessoed and then embossed with Snow Embossing Powder. I did some random embossing with Lilac, Lime and Icicle Embossing Powder. For glimmer, I added some Peridot Glitter. To the left are some of our new Attic Charm Daisies.

Under and beneath my photo layers I've included the Collage Border which was treated similarly to the Rose Shield for a cohesive look. Just a bit more subdued. I love that this shot includes a close-up of our new Attic Charm Glitter Roses as well as the Daises. Seriously in love with these flowers!

My title was heat embossed with Snow Embossing Powder and then inked a bit to help make it pop off the page. The Icicle Embossing Powder was added to the crown for a little more sparkle . I balanced it with a few of our new flowers and layered it with a Calling Card.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:
Paper: Attic Charm Attic Key, Spring Posy and Calling Cards
Chipboard: Little Princess, Rose Shield, Collage Border
Embossing Powder: Snow, Lilac, Lime, Icicle
Glitter: Peridot
Mist: Leaf
Stamps: Wallflower
Flowers: Attic Charm Glitter Roses, Daisies

My second project is called Life is Full of Surprises .. in this case twins. I've done a video tutorial for you this month and the link is near the end of my post. These are my adorable grandsons.

Some of our gorgeous new Attic Charm Glitter Roses and Daisies.

The "Working Part" chipboard which was so fun to alter!

Love how the title chipboard turned out!

I'm obsessed with all of our new flowers including the Tranquility Blooms I've tucked in.

Just  a little dimensional shot for you!

Now on to the process video:
