April projects by Lydia Guijt

Hello Blue Fern Studios and Paper Friends.

This month I have 3 very different layouts for you.
Two of them are with the beautiful Spring Parade Collection and the third one is with one of my favorite collections Chesterville

Let's get started

Discover

When we took this tour through the Grand Canyon this Sunset was just amazing. I knew I had to scrapbook it.
I'm using the Market Place paper as my base. The Tattered News Print Stamp right now is one of my favorite stamps and for this layout I used it to create some background interest. I chose one of my stencils and used paste to add more background details.

I wanted to use some straws for this layout to create a dramatic effect. The Turkish Bits pieces and Discover were embossed with Ebony embossing powder.

The Layering Stems with Sea Mist embossing powder and topped with a layer of Caribbean Glitter.

Behind my photo I put some smaller pieces from Spring Parade - Market Place and Sunday Best to create some layers. The straws already created some depth and helped with a nicely layered look.

The beautiful Peony flower (Spring Peony and Berries) is quite big and is perfect to take apart and use in parts. Filling up the rest of the layout with some more flowers and embellishments. Some beads, micro beads and splatters to finish of the layout and we're all done.

Memories

For my second layout I'm going a little more classic. The base is Spring Parade - Sun Rise. Although in the corner it has an Easter theme. By covering it up. You can make it into whatever you chose it to be. I found the saying on Attic Charm - Calling Cards and went from there.

For the background I used the Tattered News Print Stamp to create interest around the page with Antique Gold Embossing Powder.

The Blooming Curls,  Whimsy Flourishes and Leafy Page Accents chipboard pieces all got embossed with Oatmeal embossing powder with the flowers on the Blooming Curls piece in Pink Dust.

I positioned all the pieces and started adding a variety of Blue Fern Studios flowers, Spring Florals, Soft Blossoms, Late Winter Lilies, together with some pieces of lace, ribbon and other embellishments. Some finishing touches with pearls, art stones and beads.

Journey

My third and last layout for this month is a more masculine layout using the Chesterville collection.
This collection is just perfect for layouts like this.

I used Chesterville - Keswick as the base and started preparing my page with clear gesso. Then used the Tattered News Print stamp around the page. Next I got out 2 stencils and a combination of pastes to create some interest. Since I'm going for a metallic look. I used gold, silver and graphite. Continuing with splatter inks. Now that the background is all done it's time to get the chipboard pieces prepared.

Circuitry and Discovery are embossed in Sand and Sea with a sprinkle of  Antique Gold here and there. The Faucets in Black Sand. Putting it all together on the page creating some layers with Chesterville : Keswick, Chester pieces. Some flowers from the Chesterville BloomsHarvest Lilies and other embellishments to complete the look.

Easter Joy by Patty Rogers

As we approach Easter, our Blue Fern Fan of the month, Patty Rogers, has an adorable Easter layout to share, using paper and chipboard from the Spring Parade Collection.  I'll let Patty fill you in on all the details:

Hi everyone! It's Patty Rogers again to share a layout I created with the beautiful Spring Parade collection. I wanted to use this photo of my two children as they were enjoying Easter Sunday. Don't you love the Spring Bunny chipboard frame?  The charming little bunny and its size are perfect for the trend in scrapbooking to use a small photo.

For this piece, I used a variety of papers from Spring Parade (Market Place, April Medley, Sunrise, Susie's Garden and Spring Parade). The stripes in Sunrise paper begged for a horizontal or vertical design.  I used an inking sponge to darken the paper a little behind the area of interest to draw attention to that area and to make it pop.

Some of the background work that I did can be seen here. First, I used Essential Textures stamp to play up the brick wall seen in the photo.  For the embossing, I used Lavender Eggs, Snow, and Sea Mist and added sprinkles of the brand new Spring Posy glitter! Also, I added a few splatters of gesso.

This beautiful little girl is one of the many reasons I love Blue Fern Studios products! I fussy cut and popped her up for dimension. Also used here is Garden Lattice Bits chipboard in the background. I seem to be hopelessly addicted to dimension, texture and beautiful paper!

Flowers used here are the Spring Florals and Spring Peony and Berries. I painted a bit of gesso on the flowers to give them a lighter feel.

Thanks for stopping by. See you next time!

April Projects by Babi

Hi Everyone,

Today I would like to share with you a couple of projects featuring Spring Parade Collection.

I used  Marketplace and Sunday Best papers to create my  first project, called "Fabulous".

I used the Spring Parade paper to create the the layers on my layout. Then, I stamped some areas with Tattered Newsprint stamp  with  black ink to create contrast.

I covered the Turkish Bits chipboard with Snow Embossing Powder.

And finished my project with some flowers that I "fussy cut" from Joyful paper. I also used  Late Winter flowers to  decorate it.

Blue Fern Studios Supplies:

Papers:
Market Place
Sunday
Spring Parade

Chipboards:
Turkish Bits

Flowers:
Spring Florals
Late Winter

Embossing Powder:
Snow

Stamp:
Tattered Newsprint

For my second project I decided to create a " Easter Canvas" to decorate my house for this season.

I used Spring Petites, Sunrise and May Vignettes tp create the layers on my canvas. You can check how I create the whole background for this project in the video below.

And added some gorgeous accents that I cut from April Medley and Sunday Best papers.

I added a Floral Spray chipboard that I covered with Snow embossing powder. I always use white on the chipboard when I want it to look more discrete.

Then, I heat embossed the Grid Pieces with Antique Gold embossing powder.  This time I want to highlight the chipboards with a gold color.

I added some flowers and glitter to add more texture to it and finish with  Tattered Newsprint stamp to "break" the bold colors.

May Vignettes

Spring Petites
April Medley

Meet our April Blue Fern Fan of the Month!

We are thrilled to announce our April Blue Fern Fan of the Month - the amazing Patty Rogers!  Patty is a true fan of everything Blue Fern.  If you stop by her blog, you will see pages of beautiful layouts using our products.  This month, we have the pleasure of sharing some of Patty's layouts with you.  Each week, we will have a new layout from her using the Spring Parade Collection.  She has some wonderful projects planned.

For now, we will turn it over to Patty so you can get to know her and her creative process a little better.

My name is Patty Rogers, also known as A Sassy Scrapper in the world of Paper Crafting. My husband and I live in Texas, United States, where we met at Texas Christian University, as
I majored in education and minored in art. Although our two children are grown now, I still enjoy doing layouts about them at any stage of their lives.

Over the past twenty years, I have had several paradigm shifts in my style, and know that I am ever changing and improving in my work (read "play" here). I keep up with the latest supplies and trends and find that a romantic look is the style I enjoy creating most of all. I became interested in the artistic side of this “craft” a few years back, and love all the fun I have had with embossing, layering, painting, dimension and texture. My work is definitely considered multimedia.

I love Blue Fern Studios products, and have been using them since 2011 while on a design team that carried their amazing products. I especially like that the quality and beauty of their paper is perfect for my style of scrapbooking and that their chipboard, flowers, stamps and embossing powders are perfectly coordinated. I am a hopeless Blue Fern Studio Fan!

For this layout, I chose to use the Chesterville Shelf along with Good Vibes for a title, and Bits of Honey chipboard pieces as a backdrop.  Also used here are June and Market Place papers from the Spring Parade Collection, Pink Dust and Lavender Eggs embossing powders, and Spring Posy glitter.

The flowers included are the gorgeous berries from Spring Peony and Berries, Spring Florals, Heartland Blossoms and Dark Tropic Lilies.  The colors in these Blue Fern Studios products were perfect for the Easter dress my daughter was wearing. It could not have been a better match!

Techniques used for this layout included painting, heat embossing, tearing, 3 - D work, and crimping.

Creating little clusters of the beautiful flowers brought it all together and made the layout very feminine.

One of my favorite techniques to use in a layout is to add texture. Sometimes, I achieve that by using modeling paste and a stencil. Another way to get texture is to heat emboss. For an added touch here, I used a paper crimper to achieve the corrugated look under the photo. For me, there was not one minute during the creation of this layout that was not pure enjoyment!

April projects by Tartine Peluche

Hello everybody!
Today I come back to present my layouts of month.
Each of it is created from the new collection SPRING PARADE.

For beginning, here is my first layout:

- DREAM HAVE NO LIMITS -

I used the B side of the paper "Remembrance".
I worked a lot on my background with stencils and different mediums.

I used the beautiful chipboard " Wild flourish bundle ".
To start I put gesso and then embossed with the new color coordinated to the collection
Spring parade: PINK DUST, a beautiful pale pink with golden glitter.

A little closer, you can see all the softness of the color, I really love it.
In this picture we can also see that I embossed with " Making plan stamp" a few places with PINK DUST embossing powder.

I chose to use the flowers of the collection HARVEST LILLIE.
To give them a little punch more I painted the petals with golden paint.

 "

Blue Fern Studios I've used:
Paper:
Spring Parade - Remembrance
Chipboards:
Wild flourish bundle
Imagine Ink Powder
Pink Dust
Stamps:
Making plan
Flowers:
Harvest Lillies

------------------------------------

- WONDER -

For my second layout I used Susie's Garden, Spring Petite and June paper of SPRING PARADE.
First to make my background I used the paper "June" That I worked with paint and ink.
With the other two papers I cut  some flowers to decorate my photo.

The main color of my layout is given by LAVENDER EGGS embossing powder which I used  for the
Whimsy flourishes chipboard and some die cut of leaf stamped.

For my Title, I embossed with Lavender eggs embossing powder. but as I did not like the result with the l
eaf of the same color I painted it with a white 3D paint. The final result leaves some glitter on the title.
My Flowers are from the new collection CHESTERVILLE, Chesterville Florals.

 l

I cut on the paper " Small Spring" on the small picture of paper "Sunday Best" the flowers that are on the  right of my photo.

And on the Susie's Garden paper I cut the flowers drawn in the top of the paper ...

Chipboards:

------------------------------------

This one is my fav of month.
I wanted a page without a picture but with a thought.
I knew I was going to do a layout like this, I wanted to give a thematic : Wings, Fly, Fall,  Get up ... Since the layout starts from above and falls down, held by a thread,
So I chose the quote : What if I fall ...

Unlike my other two pages I did not work a background in 3D texture, but rather in effect of color contrast ...
And I must confess that it was difficult to take pictures. You will see on zoom that the page is much paler than the whole picture. This creation is very gentle in reality. Sorry for not having succeeded better take a picture.

- WHAT IF I FALL -

I chose the paper "Marketplace" of Spring parade collection. I think this is the most beautiful in
the collection, softness color and a subtile pattern of lace.

For the chipboard title, " Story" I embossed it in white then I embossed the half in lavander.
I used imaginie ink SNOW embossing powder and LAVANDER EGGS .

 l

I chose " Late Winter Lilies " for this project. I think I could not find better.
Have you see the little bottle of pearls? I find it too cute ...

You will see on the next two photos that I cut the Chipboard " Shabby Layered Frame " in two, after altering it.
I paint them in gold, then I put cracked varnish and I added white paint for the part of bottom.
Then for the pattern above, I did the reverse, gold on white.

Blue Fern Studios products I've used:
Paper
Marketplace
chipboards
Shabby Layered Frame
Story, Fairytale, Magic
Imagine ink embossing powder
Snow
Lavender Eggs
Stamps
Tattered Newsprint
Flowers
Late Winter Lilies

So there it is! Hope you like it.
Thank you for stopping by!
See you in may, for another layout.
